BRAMPTON, ON – The Corporation of the City of Brampton has been in active negotiations with CUPE Local 831 to reach a new contract for City of Brampton members. CUPE Local 831 will be in a legal strike position as of 12:01 am on Thursday, November 7. We recognize and appreciate our CUPE 831 employees and their dedication to maintaining City services. The City remains committed to negotiating a fair, multi-year agreement that acknowledges these contributions while ensuring fiscal responsibility for Brampton’s residents and aligning with other CUPE agreements in the Greater Toronto Area.

As a result of the potential labour disruption, certain City services may be affected. While some will continue to operate as usual, others may experience reduced capacity or temporary cancellations. The City is actively prioritizing the maintenance of essential and emergency services to support our residents throughout a pending labour disruption. The City will take all possible steps to maintain scheduled transit service, however these services may be significantly impacted. It is recommended residents make alternate travel plans.

For updated information on impacted City services, please visit Labour Disruption Updates | Let's Connect Brampton or follow the City’s social media channels.

While details of the offers and negotiation process with CUPE Local 831 remain confidential to respect the bargaining process, the City is committed to an offer comparable to other major GTA municipalities. We deeply value the contributions of our employees and remain optimistic about reaching a resolution that will benefit both the community and our workforce in line with nearby municipal CUPE agreements.
