BRAMPTON, ON – The City of Brampton is actively negotiating with Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1573 to reach a new contract for Brampton Transit members. ATU Local 1573 will be in a legal strike position as of 12:01 am on Friday, May 23, 2025.
In the event of strike, all Brampton Transit services will be temporarily stopped and no buses will be running. The public is encouraged to plan alternative travel arrangements.
The City of Brampton remains committed to negotiating a fair, multi-year agreement that acknowledges the ATU’s contributions while ensuring fiscal responsibility for Brampton taxpayers. Both City of Brampton and ATU Local 1573 representatives remain committed to reaching an agreement to avoid a strike.
