Biography
Rod Power is a proud Bramptonian, who has called Brampton home for more than 35 years. Like for so many of you, Brampton holds a special place in his heart – not only for our proud past, but for the bright future that lies ahead. Growing up in the “H” section of Bramalea, as an active member of the community, he focused on sports. He was a prominent member of the Chinguacousy Soccer Club, being named to multiple All-Star teams and the Bramalea Boxing Club where he won gold in the Provincial Championships. Throughout middle school and high school, he wrestled and played football. It is not lost on him the value of sport growing up and the many past and current residents who have put Brampton on the map globally through sport. Rod met his wife here in Brampton, raised three kids all of which were born at Peel Memorial Hospital.
Before entering politics, Rod had a substantial career focused on workforce development and planning, particularly in the learning and development sector. He is known as an award-winning leader with a strong background in operations management, mentoring, coaching, sales, and leadership. Rod has also had 4 start-up businesses in the fields of IT development and HR. This experience has equipped him with the skills necessary for strategic planning, problem-solving, and community engagement, all of which are essential for his role as a city councillor in Brampton.
Rod will continue to focus on strengthening public safety, collaborating with law enforcement and community groups to help create safer neighborhoods. Supporting Youth Programs, through community hubs and recreation. Ensuring that young people have access to extracurricular activities contributing to their overall development and future success. Continuously improving communication with residents to ensure transparency in decision-making processes. And increase efforts to engage diverse community groups, including marginalized and underrepresented populations. This will ensure that the voices of all residents are heard.
