​​City of Brampton delivers strong investment performance amid global change​

BRAMPTON, ON (February 4, 2026) – The City of Brampton’s Economic Development Office has released its 2025 Annual Report, capturing a year of investment attraction, business growth and innovation across Brampton’s key sectors. Across advanced manufacturing and food processing, health innovation and technology and emerging sectors including space, defence and cybersecurity, Brampton continues to strengthen its position as a leading destination for companies scaling in Canada.

In 2025, Brampton’s economy demonstrated resilience and adaptability amid shifting global market conditions. Strong industrial investment, consistent commercial and institutional development and continued momentum in the Innovation District reflected a city focused on long-term opportunity. Throughout the year, the Economic Development Office worked alongside businesses and partners to navigate change through targeted programs, sector partnerships and market diversification initiatives. ​

2025 highlights shaping Brampton’s growth

Driving investment in key sectors 

  • Panattoni broke ground on a new advanced manufacturing and R&D facility for Mobile Climate Control (MCC), representing a $120M investment and the creation of more than 700 jobs.
  • Marcangelo Foods (Concord Premium Meats Ltd) announced a $70M investment in a new food manufacturing facility, creating 300 new jobs.
  • Encore Canada launched its 153,000 sq ft Canadian headquarters in Brampton, home to over 225 professionals. 
  • Powersmiths expanded its Canadian operations with the opening of its fourth advanced manufacturing facility in Brampton, an $8M investment creating over 150 jobs.
  • MDA Space, a global space and defence leader headquartered in Brampton has nearly doubled revenue per employee and tripled its patent portfolio since 2021.
  • Valle Foam, a division of VPC Group Inc., completed an 18,000 sq ft, $6M expansion of its Brampton facility, introducing a state-of-the-art testing lab.
  • Major NAIOP REX Awards for Kaneff Group’s $200M MDA Space HQ and Prologis’s $258M purchase of a 90-acre site from Canadian Tire Real Estate Limited.
  • Maple Lodge Farms, a vital employer in Brampton since 1955, opened a new 24,000 sq ft Chicken Shop Facility, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to the local workforce.
  • 55H, in partnership with Core Data Centres, advanced the expansion of its next-generation Tier 3 data centre facility in Brampton, adding 20MW of new capacity to support growing demand for high performance and AI-optimized computing.

Advancing health and life sciences

  • In September 2025, Toronto Metropolitan University opened its School of Medicine in Brampton, marking a milestone in health education, research and innovation.​

Strengthening innovation, entrepreneurship and local talent

  • Brampton’s Innovation District continued to serve as a launchpad for entrepreneurs, growing a pipeline of high-potential startups through hands-on programming, community-driven events and early-stage funding support. ​

Innovation District Highlights (2025):

  • 271 startups graduated through Innovation District partners.
  • 25 patents filed by companies and alumni.
  • 372 events hosted in Brampton, attracting over 14,000 participants.
  • $23.5M+ investments raised by participating companies and alumni.
  • $3.7M+ in grants and investments distributed through the Brampton Innovation District and Brampton Angels to support early-stage technology start-ups.

The District’s growth was reinforced by major initiatives including BramHacks 2025: Space Edition, Web Summit Vancouver, Founders & Funders, Algoma University’s IMMXRSIVE National Centre of Excellence and the continued expansion of Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, advancing commercialization, inclusive innovation and global competitiveness.

Supporting business competitiveness through global market shifts

  • Launched in April 2025, the Mayor’s Tariff Task Force is driving Brampton’s award-winning Tariff Action Plan, advancing business diversification and long-term economic growth.
  • The City continued to help businesses navigate trade uncertainty through targeted supports and resources, including advisory services, export readiness programming and the Tariff Resource Hub at investbrampton.ca/tariffs
  • In 2025, the Economic Development Office and Brampton Entrepreneur Centre launched the Go Global initiative, an export readiness and market diversification program to help businesses diversify. ​

Expanding incentives to support growth

  • In 2025, the City expanded its suite of incentives to drive investment and development in one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, including development charge (DC) reductions for eligible projects and support through programs such as the Tax Increment Equivalent Grant (TIEG) for qualifying office and mixed-use developments.
