Prioritizing affordability, strengthening services and delivering key community investments
BRAMPTON, ON (February 6, 2026) – Today, City of Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and Councillors adopted the City’s 2026 Budget with a focus on affordability and a fiscally responsible approach to spending while supporting strong, reliable services.
City Council approved a 2026 budget with a 0% increase to the City’s portion of the property tax bill, and a 1% levy dedicated to Brampton’s second hospital reserve, helping to speed up the completion of the new hospital through contributions to the City’s provincially required $125 million municipal commitment to William Osler Health System.
Informed by extensive community input, the 2026 Budget invests in priority areas including public safety, health care, parks and recreation, economic growth, arts and culture and environmental sustainability.

Understanding your property tax bill
Property taxes include contributions to multiple levels of local government. The City of Brampton collects property taxes on behalf of the City, the Region of Peel, and the Province of Ontario (education). The City’s portion represents only a portion of the total property tax bill.

About Brampton’s Budget development process
The 2026 Budget was developed through a collaborative process and informed by community input. Residents, businesses and stakeholders provided feedback through a telephone town hall, roundtables, including the Downtown Brampton Business Improvement Area, and coffee chats with Ward Councillors across the city.
The adopted Budget aligns with the City’s Corporate Strategic Plan 2022-2026, a guiding document that integrates Council priorities and resident input to support accountability and future decision-making.
