Community invited to experience and celebrate Polish Heritage Month, Guyanese Independence Day and Portuguese Heritage Month
BRAMPTON, ON (May 7, 2026) – The City of Brampton invites residents to take part in a vibrant lineup of community events throughout May recognizing Polish Heritage Month, Guyanese Independence Day and Portuguese Heritage Month. These events celebrate cultural pride while reflecting the diversity and strength defining Brampton.
Through engaging cultural experiences and community gatherings, the City continues to create meaningful opportunities for residents to connect, learn and reflect.
Polish Heritage Month
The City of Brampton, in partnership with the Canadian Polish Business Association, invites residents to experience Polish culture and traditions with a community flag raising at Ken Whillans Square, followed by a reception inside City Hall. Guests will enjoy cultural entertainment and complimentary traditional Polish cuisine provided by EuroMAX Foods.

May is recognized nationally as Polish Heritage Month, honouring the traditions, history and contributions of Polish communities across Canada. Polish communities also mark Polish Constitution Day on May 3, commemorating the Constitution of May 3, 1791, one of Europe’s earliest modern constitutions.
Guyanese Independence Day
Residents are invited to experience a lively celebration of culture and community for Guyanese Independence Day in partnership with the West Indian Community Brampton. The event will feature a community flag raising at Ken Whillans Square, followed by cultural performances, a fashion showcase, youth artwork and a children’s book display. The celebration will continue with a community reception featuring food provided by a local restaurant.

Portuguese Heritage Month
Celebrate Portuguese Heritage Month with a community flag raising and the Lusofonia Festival, a weekend of cultural experiences, live entertainment and food.
