BRAMPTON, ON (May 14, 2026) – Brampton’s cricket story is taking another major step forward this summer as the Cricket Capital of Canada prepares to welcome professional cricket, international talent and fans to the city for the National Cricket League (NCL) 20 Canada tournament from July 16 to August 1!
Today, Mayor Patrick Brown was joined by Members of Council, Arun Agarwal, Chairman of the National Cricket League and community partners to officially launch the tournament and celebrate the return of professional cricket to Brampton this summer.
The event reflects Brampton’s continued emergence as a destination for high-profile sporting events and supports the City’s long-term Sport Tourism Strategy.

The upcoming NCL 20 Canada season will feature six confirmed franchise teams representing major Canadian cricket hubs, including the Brampton Blazers. The tournament will include 24 matches and feature a mix of global cricket talent and emerging local players. Player registration is now open for aspiring cricketers interested in competing on a larger stage.

Brampton is the Cricket Capital of Canada, with cricket representing one of the fastest-growing sports locally and globally. - Approximately $10 million invested over two years to enhance cricket facilities, including lighting and upgrades
- 23 cricket fields across the city, with more planned
- Earnscliffe Park Cricket Facility, Brampton’s first year-round cricket venue, opening 2026
- More than 115 organizations using cricket amenities
- Over 18,000 hours of field time booked annually
- New and upgraded facilities including Creditview Sandalwood Park and Turner Fenton Secondary School joint-use pitch
- Future multi-purpose cricket facility proposed as part of the City Lands development
These investments support a thriving local cricket ecosystem and position Brampton to host major events while continuing to meet strong community demand for recreational play.
Youth Cricket League – Summer registration
The City’s approach to cricket also includes recreational programming designed to introduce and grow the sport among young residents. Through the Youth Cricket League, generously sponsored by Centaur Products Inc., children can learn the fundamentals, build confidence and experience the excitement of the game in a welcoming community setting.
Programs are designed for all experience levels and include:
- All equipment provided (bats, wickets, helmets, balls)
- Jersey included with registration
- Weekly evening sessions combining skill development and gameplay
Summer 2026 sessions for registration:
- U9 League: Monday, June 29 to August 31 at Blue Oak Park
- U12 League: Tuesday, June 30 to September 1 at Blue Oak Park
- Registration begins June 1 at brampton.ca/registerforprograms
The program removes barriers to participation and provides young players with a strong foundation in the sport while fostering community connection.
