​​​More advance voting opportunities and accessible voting units will support greater voter participation and make it easier for voters to cast their ballot independently

BRAMPTON, ON (September 29, 2026) – The City of Brampton is taking steps to increase voter participation in the 2026 Municipal Election by expanding advance voting opportunities and introducing accessible voting units to reduce barriers for voters living with disabilities.

​The City will be offering two weekends of advance voting, with five locations on the first weekend, an increase of two locations from the last municipal election, and 10 locations on the second weekend of advance voting, with one in each ward. Voters attending advance voting locations will use accessible touchscreen units to mark their ballot. Accessible units provide voters living with disabilities an opportunity to mark their ballot independently.

When and where to cast your ballot

During advance voting, eligible voters can cast their ballot at any advance voting location in Brampton, regardless of where they live in the city. The schedule provides additional opportunities for those who may be working, travelling or otherwise unable to vote on Voting Day. On Voting Day, voters can vote at any voting location within their ward. Use the City’s online voting location tool at brampton.ca/voters​ to find a voting location and plan when and where to vote.

Advance voting

Date: October 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17

Time: Weekdays, 12 to 8 p.m.; weekends, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Date: Monday, October 26

Time: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

​Reducing barriers through accessible voting

All voting locations for the 2026 Municipal Election are accessible. Accessible voting units are equipped with the following accessibility tools to assist voters in marking their ballot independently: 

• Touchscreen voting
• Headphones with an audio ballot
• Rocker paddle
• High-contrast viewing
• Keypad with Braille
• Sip-N-Puff device
  

Voters who require assistance may be accompanied by a support person, and election officials are trained to provide accessible customer service.

The City also offers home voting by appointment for voters who are unable to attend a voting location because of a disability, illness or injury. Requests must be made by October 9 at 4:30 p.m. Proxy voting is also available for eligible voters who are unable to vote in person during advance voting or on Voting Day.

Check your voter notice and confirm you are on the Voters’ List

Voters are encouraged to check their voter notice and confirm their information is accurate before voting. When voting, bring your voter notice and acceptable identification showing your name and Brampton address. A voter notice can make the voting process faster but is not required to vote and cannot be used as identification.

If you did not receive a voter notice, use the City’s online tool to check, update or request to be added to the Voters’ List until 5 p.m. on October 17. Voters can also update or add their information in person at Brampton City Hall or at a voting location. Those without a voter notice can still vote by bringing acceptable identification showing their name and Brampton address.
