BRAMPTON, ON — As part of Brampton’s commitment to keeping streets clean and vibrant, the street sweeping program is returning for 2025. Each year, this essential operation clears away salt, sand and debris left behind by the winter season, supporting cleaner roads, safer travel and more enjoyable public spaces across the city.
Small actions make a big difference. This year’s street sweeping program supports the City’s Imagine Your Impact campaign, reminding residents that everyday actions, such as picking up litter or keeping streets clean, contribute to meaningful change. Street sweeping is one way the City is doing its part and residents are encouraged to do theirs.
To support street sweeping operations, residents are reminded to:
- Keep vehicles off the street to avoid obstructing the operations, allowing the sweeper to sweep the roadway from curb to curb.
- Place garbage containers and recycling boxes far enough from the roadway on collection days.
About Brampton’s Street Sweeping Program
The Street Sweeping Program includes all City-owned:
- Roads with a topcoat of asphalt, including bridges, catchbasins and gutters
- Hard-surfaced boulevards and medians
- Sidewalks and walkways plowed by the City during the winter
- Parking lots at City of Brampton recreation centres and other municipal facilities.
In addition, rural roads without curbs are flushed or swept as needed.
This program takes place throughout the spring and summer months until the Thanksgiving Holiday in the following sequence:
- The spring street sweeping operation includes all roadways in Brampton.
- The first round of summer street sweeping focuses on arterial roads and industrial roads.
- The second round of summer street sweeping involves arterial, industrial, collector and residential roads. It also includes sweeping and flushing islands and medians.
- The final street sweep covers arterial, industrial roads and collector roadways to prepare them for the winter weather.
