Brampton is Canada’s 7th largest city, the 3rd largest in Ontario and the 2nd largest in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), moving from a small population of 500 in 1853 to 791,486 in 2024. Between 2016 and 2021, the City accounted for over 90% of the net population growth within the Region of Peel, making it one of the fastest-growing urban centres in the country.
Brampton is located northwest of Toronto, within close proximity to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Our city is home to a vibrant and diverse community, representing 250 cultures and speaking 171 different languages.
Offering more than 1,283 hectares of parklands, Brampton is a green city providing access to more than 436 parks, many recreational amenities and sports fields, open spaces and trails.
Home to more than 110,000 registered businesses, the city’s major business clusters include manufacturing, retail and wholesale trade.
Maclean’s magazine recognized Brampton as one of Canada’s Best Communities in 2021. In addition, S&P Global affirmed the City of Brampton’s Triple ‘A’ rating for 2024, the highest credit rating a municipality can receive, with a stable outlook.
