Toronto artist and Colourful Sounds founder Truss is a master of versatility - a singer, rapper, writer, producer, and audio engineer all rolled into one. He's been an audio engineer for the past 6 years after graduating from Trebas Institute in 2018. In 2021, Truss composed original music for Award-winning TV series “Sort Of”. This experience paved the way for other collaborative songwriting opportunities, including landing a sync on Director X's critically acclaimed TV series “Robyn Hood”. Truss also had his song selected to be the festival theme song for The 34th Annual Toronto 2SLGBTQ+ Film Festival “Inside Out”. Truss has performed across Canada and South America, as well as Europe; taking his audio setup with him wherever he goes. In 2023, he decided to launch his own organization, Colourful Sounds, to encourage other people of colour to get into live sound engineering. He wrapped the first cohort of workshops in August, and hopes that Colourful Sounds will continue to grow as he grows himself.

In this interactive workshop, Glenn will discuss a number of songwriting tips and tricks before offering participants the opportunity to share songs they have brought for feedback. He will outline the main aspects of songwriting, song styles and structures, approaches to songwriting, beating writer's block, creative problem solving, and other ways to improve lyrics.

Most of this two-hour workshop will focus on assisting the participants on songs they present to the group. Please bring songs you are currently working on and/or having difficulty completing. Glenn's comments will be constructive and not critical, it will be a fun and positive experience. Time permitting, we will even try to write a song together!
