Address: Duck Bench - Stephen Llewellyn Trail, Brampton, Ontario L6R 3G8

This public art initiative is part of the My Neighbourhood Art Project, a series of site-specific, temporary art installations created in collaboration with the local community.

A Bridge Between Us is inspired by the natural environment along the Stephen Llewellyn Trail and was created in collaboration with students from Robert J. Lee Public School. As part of a workshop led by Steph Payne assistance from Brampton artist, Zara Garcia-Alvarez, students took part in a guided nature walk, gathering local plants to create cyanotypes (sun prints), that captured the textures and patterns of the landscape. These student-made prints became the main inspiration for the final artwork. Echoing the wildlife found in the area, the installation features silhouettes of ducks in mid-flight, adorned with cyanotype patterns created by over 20 students! The plants and flowers along the base of the bridge are drawn from Steph's own photographs taken of the landscape, highlighting the trail's rich biodiversity. Together, these elements celebrate the beauty of the local ecology and transform the bridge into a joyful point of connection between community, art, and nature.

My Neighbourhood Art Project exemplifies the importance of meaningful community arts engagement and neighbourhood beautification.
