​​25 youth leaders selected to represent young voices, strengthen civic engagement and support youth-led initiatives across Brampton​

BRAMPTON, ON (September 9, 2026) – The City of Brampton welcomes the 25 executive members selected to serve on the inaugural 2026-2027 Brampton Youth Cabinet, marking an important milestone in the City’s efforts to strengthen youth engagement and ensure young people have a meaningful voice in their community. Selected through an open application process, these young people will represent their peers and bring youth perspectives directly into City priorities and decision-making.

About the 2026-2027 Brampton Youth Cabinet

As a key initiative of the City’s 2026-2030 Youth Engagement Strategy, the Brampton Youth Cabinet brings together Brampton residents aged 14 to 29 to share ideas and perspectives, provide input through a youth lens and help shape initiatives that matter to young people. Cabinet members will also support youth-led projects, collaborate with the City on events and conduct outreach to strengthen connections with youth across Brampton. The Cabinet will hold its first official meeting on September 10 and will meet monthly throughout its term, which runs from September 2026 to June 2027.

The Cabinet’s 25-member executive team is organized into four working groups: Advisory, 

Communications, Outreach and Events, with representation across Brampton’s five ward pairings to ensure youth voices from across the city are reflected.​

Each working group includes:

• Two Co-leads, including one teen aged 14 to 18 and one young adult aged 19 to 29
• Four Core Members supporting the Advisory, Communications and Outreach working groups
• Five Core Members supporting the Events working group
  

Together, the working groups will help advance the Cabinet’s mandate by creating opportunities for youth to engage with the City, raising awareness of issues important to young people and supporting projects, events and initiatives that reflect youth interests and perspectives.

While the executive team has been selected, general membership remains open​ throughout the 2026-2027 term to Brampton residents aged 14 to 29. General members can stay connected to the Cabinet, learn about upcoming opportunities and participate in youth engagement initiatives throughout the year. No previous experience is required.

About Brampton’s Youth Engagement Strategy 

The City’s 2026-2030 Youth Engagement Strategy​, released in June 2025, is a five-year roadmap to strengthen youth engagement across Brampton. The Strategy focuses on creating meaningful opportunities for young people to connect, participate and contribute while strengthening communication, leadership and civic involvement. With young people representing an important part of Brampton’s growing and diverse population, their perspectives are essential to building a city that reflects their needs, priorities and experiences.
