​Meet the 2026-2027 Brampton Youth Cabinet

The City of Brampton welcomes the 25 executive members selected to serve on the inaugural 2026-2027 Brampton Youth Cabinet, marking an important milestone in the City’s efforts to strengthen youth engagement and ensure young people have a meaningful voice in their community.

Together, the working groups will help advance the Cabinet’s mandate by creating opportunities for youth to engage with the City, raising awareness of issues important to young people and supporting projects, events and initiatives that reflect youth interests and perspectives.

Throughout the term, Cabinet members will work collaboratively with City staff and one another to build leadership and advisory skills, strengthen youth participation in civic life and foster greater inclusion, collaboration and belonging.

​​​​The City of Brampton has launched its very first Youth Cabinet. Guided by youth ideas, feedback, and vision, the Brampton Youth Cabinet is designed to be a platform where young peop​le can:

  • Raise awareness of issues that affect and/or interest youth
  • Support youth-led projects, events and initiatives
  • Build leadership and advisory skills
  • Strengthen the connection between youth and local government
  • Foster collaboration, inclusion and belonging

Purpose and Structure

The Brampton Youth Cabinet empowers youth and provides a platform to share ideas and drive positive outcomes in the City of Brampton. By providing youth with a strong and meaningful voice in civic life, the Brampton Youth Cabinet sparks leadership, advocacy, collaboration and action.

Mandate

  • Facilitate leadership development and mentorship opportunities
  • Enhance connections between youth and the City​

Cabinet Structure

The Youth Cabinet is organized into executive members and general members:

  • Working Groups – Four branches with specific focus areas:
    • Each working group has two Co-Leads (one Teen, aged 14 to 18; one Young Adult, aged 19 to 29), and the Co-Leads will chair the executive team meetings in rotation
    • Each working group also includes four Core members (Events to have five Core m​embers) to support project development
  • General Members – Open to all Brampton youth aged 14 to 29

Membership (Who, Why, & How)​​​

  • Who: Must be a Brampton resident, aged 14 to 29
  • Why: To share ideas and drive positive outcomes​
  • How: ​​Applications are open to all youth — no prior experience needed, just passion, dedication, and a commitment to community

Focus: Event strategy, planning, and execution

  • Lead planning of youth-focused events throughout the Youth Cabinet term
  • Brainstorm creative event ideas aligned with youth interests and Youth Engagement Strategy priorities
  • Deliver a major end-of-term event​
  • Manage logistics, budgets, and sponsorship opportunities​​
  • Collect participant feedback to ensure events reflect youth needs

Focus: Connecting with youth across Brampton

  • Identify emerging issues, needs, and ideas from youth citywide
  • Build partnerships with schools, youth groups, and community organizations​
  • Develop a school ambassador model to provide local insights
  • Support Youth Cabinet recruitment and volunteer engagement
  • Promote civic engagement by encouraging youth participation in youth initiatives

​Focus: Amplifying youth voices
  • Develop a unified voice for Youth Cabinet initiatives across platforms
  • Create social media content, newsletters, and youth-focused campaigns ​
  • Align messaging with City branding and the Youth Engagement Strategy
  • Collaborate with the City’s Communications team to maximize reach
  • Ensure smooth communication within the Youth Cabinet and with stakeholders

Focus: Advisory, inclusion, and representation​​

  • Act as an advisory body to City staff on youth-related issues
  • Research emerging youth trends and provide recommendations
  • Align Youth ​Cabinet efforts with the City's Youth Engagement Strategy
  • Promote fairness, well-being, and representation within the Youth ​Cabinet
  • Report on progress, results and outcomes at the end of each term
