​BRAMPTON, ON – The City of Brampton is calling for nominations for the Grow Green Environmental Awards, recognizing individuals, businesses and organizations demonstrating environmental leadership and making meaningful contributions to Brampton’s Grow Green Vision.

Every day across Brampton, residents and local leaders take action to protect natural spaces, strengthen sustainability and advance climate awareness. These awards shine a light on the people and initiatives moving Brampton forward and encourage broader community participation.

Environmental leadership supports healthier neighbourhoods and a stronger, more resilient city. Efforts focused on conservation, waste reduction and climate action help protect Brampton’s natural assets and contribute to long-term community wellbeing. By recognizing local champions, the City builds momentum, celebrates civic pride and inspires more residents to take action.

About the Grow Green Environmental awards

The awards recognize efforts to conserve, enhance and balance Brampton’s natural and built environments, supporting a healthy, sustainable and resilient city. ​

The Grow Green Environmental Awards ceremony will be hosted as part of Brampton’s 2026 Grow Green Festival on June 6, 2026. The event will bring together environmental leaders, community members and youth to:

• Celebrate environmental achievements 
• Highlight local environmental initiatives and groups
• Encourage residents to get involved and take action in the community
  

Award categories ​

Environmental Legacy Award

Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding personal service and long-standing contributions advancing the Grow Green Vision.

This is an individual award only, presented once per Council term and includes the planting of a memorial tree in a park of the recipient’s choice. ​

Climate Change Award

Recognizes contributions to climate change mitigation and/or adaptation awareness and outreach. Awards will be presented to an individual and to a business or organization.

Stewardship Award

Recognizes leadership in environmental sustainability initiatives related to conservation and stewardship of trees, the natural heritage system, water and/or waste reduction. Awards will be presented to an individual and to a business or organization. ​

Environmental Youth Award

Recognizes a youth or group of youth who have made significant contributions to environmental protection, climate action and/or sustainability in Brampton. One award will be presented to an individual youth or youth group. ​

Nominations

Individuals, businesses and organizations from across the city will be invited to submit nominations and nominate others for a Grow Green Environmental Award.

Key timelines

• Nomination period: January to March 15, 2026
• Review and selection: Early April 2026
• Report to Council: Mid to late April 2026 (To be confirmed)
• Recipient notification: Early May 2026
• Awards ceremony: June 6, 2026
