Active School Travel

Active School Travel focuses on encouraging families to use active modes of transportation, such as walking, cycling, or the school bus or public transport, to and from school. It aims to improve physical and mental health, while also benefiting the environment.

Active school travel offers residents a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the benefits of cycling, walking, and micromobility, which also enhances students' health and academic performance. For strategies on how to engage parents and caregivers in active school travel, review the Family School Travel Toolkit. For toolkits and ideas on how you can enhance active school travel in your school community or take on initiatives to enhance safe school travel, review the toolkits and resources from the Ontario Active School Travel Network.
