Responsible Fishing Practices

Brampton promotes responsible and sustainable fishing to help protect local ecosystems. When fishing in the city, remember to:

To help swans and waterfowl live healthy lives, use lead-free sinkers and lures. Lead tackle is often ingested by wildlife, causing serious injury or death.

Always discard fishing lines, hooks, and other gear safely to prevent harm to wildlife. We all can play a role in keeping our waterways clean and protecting local aquatic life. Prevent stormwater pollution from entering the stormwater system is essential to protecting the health of fish and other wildlife but also protecting our own drinking water supply.

Fishing is not permitted in stormwater ponds across Brampton. Stormwater ponds are engineered infrastructure built to collect and treat rainfall and runoff and are not suitable for recreational use, including fishing. Learn more about Stormwater Ponds in Brampton.
