Learn More
Islamic History Month is recognized across Canada each October. The month is a time to celebrate and share the rich Muslim heritage and tradition. As well as a time to educate and learn about the profound contributions Muslims have made to Canada and society as a whole.
The theme for Islamic History Month 2025 is "Pioneering Muslim Communities in Canada” to recognize the rich heritage, contributions and ongoing presence of Muslim communities across the country.
This theme highlights the resilience and dedication of early Muslim settlers in Canada and the mosques, cultural centers, schools and social spaces the built for futured generations.
We acknowledge the spaces they cultivated that allowed for comfort, growth and mutual support – these pioneers laid the foundation for thriving Muslim communities today.
The City of Brampton is committed to addressing Islamophobia through the adoption of the National Council of Canadian Muslims’ (NCCM) municipal recommendations. This commitment reflects our broader dedication to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment – both within our organization and across our community – by prioritizing staff education, equity, and meaningful community development.
