Volunteering at an animal shelter is a noble endeavour that not only supports the animals in need but also enriches your life in numerous ways. Whether you're looking to make a difference, develop new skills or simply enjoy the companionship of animals, this volunteer work offers a fulfilling and impactful experience.​​​​​​​​

We have multiple areas in the shelter where you can lend a helping hand. You can join us as a:

Shelter Volunteer Opportunities

You become eligible to volunteer at 18 years of age or at 16 years of age with parent/guardian consent. ​

​Volunteers must be able to commit to a one-hour shift every week for the duration of a 3-month semester. Shifts are available from Monday to Friday between 10 am - 4 pm.

  • Winter Semester: January - March, recruitment in December
  • Spring Semester: April - June, recruitment in March
  • Summer Semester: July - September, recruitment in June
  • Fall Semester: October - December, recruitment in September

Recruitment ends the week before each semester begins.

  • Complete the online application​
  • Upload a photo of government-issued ID (e.g. health card, driver's licence).
  • ​Sign all required documents.
  • Complete online orientation in your area of interest.
  • All requirements must be submitted the week before the semester is expected to start.

The volunteer coordinator will contact you via email once they receive your results from the online orientation and then provide steps on how to select a shift. Have more questions? Feel free to reach out to us at volunteerBAS@brampton.ca​​

Volunteer Driver Opportunities

Do you have a passion for helping animals and a bit of spare time? We're seeking dedicated volunteer drivers to transport local wildlife to licensed rehabilitation centres where they can receive the essential care they need before returning to their natural habitats.

If you're interested in making a difference and joining our team, please send an email to volunteerBAS@brampton.ca.​ Together, we can help save local wildlife and ensure they get the care they deserve.

  • Drive rescued wildlife to rehabilitation centres, located 30 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes away.
  • Ensure the safe and timely transportation of animals in need. Most animals must arrive at these facilities before 6 pm.
