Our Technology

The following technologies allow us to provide you with a reliable, informative and convenient public transit system.

Real-time technology

Brampton Transit operates with Computer-Aided Dispatching (CAD) and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems.

CAD/AVL provides comprehensive real-time tracking and dispatching. Data transmitted from our vehicles gets processed by the CAD/AVL system and provides real-time bus locations, schedule adherence and incident information to the Brampton Transit Control Centre.

AVL provides the real-time location of each vehicle using a global positioning system (GPS) technology. The CAD system allows for continuous communication between vehicles and the Brampton Transit Control Centre.

Real-time next bus information

With the Next Ride real-time technology, real-time next bus information is available online, by email, text and phone. All you need is your four-digit bus stop number. Learn about Next Ride.

Variable message signs and next stop announcement

LED signs are installed at all Züm stations stops within the City of Brampton, and onboard our entire fleet, displaying the next stop along the route. Once a bus approaches a stop or terminal, next stop information is displayed. These signs are located in the front interior of the bus and display the next bus stop location, allowing you to prepare to exit the bus. The 60-foot articulated Züm buses have a second screen located in the middle of the bus.

All Brampton Transit buses, including Züm, are equipped with an automated next-stop announcement system. This system enhances overall customer service and improves accessibility for our riders.

Transit Signal Priority

Transit Signal Priority (TSP) technology is equipped on buses and allows a bus to lengthen a green signal or shorten a red signal at certain intersections, allowing for enhanced schedule reliability.

Security cameras

Provide increased security onboard our buses for our customers and employees. Security cameras are installed at all Züm station stops.
