Required Forms
In order to run as a candidate in the 2026 Municipal Election, you must file the following documents with the City Clerk’s Office during the nomination period (May 1 – August 21, 2026):
Council Candidates
- Nomination Paper - Form 1 (English) (French)
- Endorsement of Nomination - Form 2 (English) (French)
(at least 25 completed endorsements)*
- Consent by Candidate (E2602) (English) (French)
- Declaration of Qualification (E2603) (English) (French)
* Please note, the Endorsement of Nomination – Form 2 is only required for candidates for Council. Candidates for Council are required to submit 25 endorsements from eligible voters – it is suggested that you obtain more than the required minimum. The Endorsement of Nomination - Form 2 has an alloted space for 25 endorsers. To obtain more than 25 endorsements, please print additional copies of the last page of the form. In the event that an endorser's eligibility is challenged, a candidate will still be eligible to be nominated if they have more endorsements than the required minimum.
Candidates must ensure all forms are fully completed, legible, and do not contain any white-out or correction fluid/tape.
Only original forms will be accepted. Faxed or mailed copies, or photocopies will not be accepted.
School Board Trustee Candidates

Please note, candidates for School Board Trustee are not required to complete the Endorsement of Nomination - Form 2.
School Board Trustee Candidates must ensure all forms are fully completed, legible, and do not contain any white-out or correction fluid/tape.

Filing Fee
The nomination filing fee is $200 for Mayor and $100 for all other positions. Accepted forms of payment for the nomination fee include cash, debit, certified cheque or money order.
Identification
Candidates are required to present original identification showing proof of name and address at the time of filing. Please refer to the List of Acceptable Forms of Identification (English) (French).
Employee of Municipality or Local Board
In accordance with
Section 30 of the
Municipal Elections Act, 1996, an employee of a municipality or local board must begin an unpaid leave of absence and provide written notice of their intention to take an unpaid leave to their council or local board
prior to filing nomination papers.
Where to File
Nominations must be filed by appointment with the City Clerk's Office. Appointments may be booked online or by calling 905.874.2000. To book an appointment online, please see the button below. Candidates who attend City Hall without booking an appointment may be able to file their forms on a walk-in basis, depending on staff availability. It is recommended that you book an appointment to file your forms.
The City Clerk’s Office is located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 2 Wellington St. W, Brampton.
Candidates must bring the required original forms, filing fee and appropriate
identification to the City Clerk’s Office for their appointment.
