Notice of Nomination Period
April 2026
The candidate nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Election will begin on Friday, May 1, 2026 and end on Friday, August 21, 2026. Nominations may be filed during regular business hours (8:30 am to 4 pm). On Nomination Day (August 21), the time for filing is 9 am to 2 pm.
Offices to be Elected
The following offices will be elected in the 2026 Municipal Election:
Mayor:
- one to be elected by all voters of the municipality
Regional Councillors:
- one to be elected for Wards 1 and 5
- one to be elected for Wards 2 and 6
- one to be elected for Wards 3 and 4
- one to be elected for Wards 7 and 8
- one to be elected for Wards 9 and 10
City Councillors:
- one to be elected for Wards 1 and 5
- one to be elected for Wards 2 and 6
- one to be elected for Wards 3 and 4
- one to be elected for Wards 7 and 8
- one to be elected for Wards 9 and 10
School Board Trustees:
Peel District School Board (English Public)
- one to be elected for Wards 1 and 5
- one to be elected for Wards 2 and 6
- one to be elected for Wards 3 and 4
- one to be elected for Wards 7 and 8
- one to be elected for Wards 9 and 10
Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board
- one to be elected for Wards 1, 3 and 4
- one to be elected for Wards 2, 5 and 6
- one to be elected for Wards 7, 8, 9 and 10
Conseil scolaire Viamonde
- one to be elected for for the Region of Peel
Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir
- one to be elected for Brampton, Caledon, Guelph and the municipalities in Dufferin and Wellington County
Procedure for Filing Nominations
Nominations must be filed in person at the City Clerk's Office at Brampton City Hall, 2 Wellington St West, by appointment. On the last day for filing, August 21, appointments are not required and candidates will be served on a first come, first served basis.
Candidates for French Public Trustee, Conseil scolaire Viamonde are required to file their nomination with the
City of Mississauga.
