Speeding on Brampton roads has been a longstanding concern for residents. Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) was previously implemented in select Community Safety Zones to help improve compliance and support safer streets. ASE used automated cameras and speed-measurement devices to identify vehicles travelling over the posted speed limit. Images were reviewed by a provincial offences officer, and if a violation was confirmed, a ticket was issued and mailed to the registered plate holder. Fines were the only penalty; no demerit points were applied.
Program Status
The Ontario government has passed legislation banning ASE cameras across the province. As a result, Brampton’s ASE program has concluded, and cameras are no longer issuing tickets as of November 14, 2025.
ASE Ticket Types
The City transitioned ASE tickets to the Administrative Penalty System (APS) in September 2024. Under APS, residents dispute penalties through Screening and Hearing Officers instead of the court system.
- POA tickets (issued before the transition to APS) will continue to be handled through the Provincial Offences Court.
- APS tickets (issued after the transition but before the program was cancelled) will continue to follow the APS dispute process.
All tickets issued before cancellation will continue through the process they were originally issued under.
Below is a photo outlining the two ticket types. Please follow the instructions based on the ticket you received.
