Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) is an automated system that uses a camera and a speed measurement device to help enforce speed limits in community safety zones – you know, those places where kids and people of all ages tend to walk, run, bike and play!
If a vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit in an ASE-enforced area, the ASE system captures an image that is stored and reviewed by a provincial offences officer. The ticket, which contains a digitized copy of the image and an enlargement of the plate portion, is mailed to the registered plate holder – regardless of who was driving.
