Program Information

In the event of severe, adverse weather, please check our website for details. Every effort will be made to ensure that all Recreation facilities remain open during regular hours of operation with programs and services to the public continuing to operate as normal.

Unless otherwise stated, the following outlines the age categories for admission/access to recreational programming:

  • Child (10 years or under)
  • Youth / Elementary School (10 to 14 years) 
  • Teen / High School (14 to 18 years)
  • Adult (18 to 54 years)
  • Student* (18 to 54 years, with valid Student ID)
  • Adult 55+ (55 years or older)

* Proof of full‑time studies (minimum of three full‑time courses) is required at registration. Accepted documents include a valid student card with issue and expiry dates, a timetable, or a letter from your school. Available for in‑person purchase only.​

In order to provide a safe and enjoyable program, age restrictions are applied to our camps. Campers must be the minimum age required on the start date of the program. Minimum and maximum age restrictions are listed in the program title.

Each program is unique and has specific age limits that must be followed. Age restrictions are based on factors such as regulatory compliance, developmental abilities, safety concerns, content appropriateness and educational value.

The City of Brampton follows the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development to ensure age groups follow the HIGH FIVE Program Design Guidelines of being developmentally appropriate, safe, and welcoming of diversity and uniqueness.

Please be advised that we may request physical photo identification (driver’s licence, government-issued ID or school ID) to verify participant ages and validate account information at check-in prior to program entry. This measure is implemented to ensure a positive and age-appropriate experience for all attendees.​

The City of Brampton has adopted an allergen reduced environment. Please avoid packing foods that contain common allergens such as peanuts or other nuts of any kind.

To maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for all guests, appropriate swimming/bathing attire is required in all aquatic and wellness spaces including swimming pools, hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas. 

Permitted Attire

Guests must wear clean attire designed and intended for swimming or aquatic activities, including:

  • One-piece or two-piece swimsuits
  • Swim trunks, board shorts, or jammers
  • Rash guards and swim shirts
  • Burkinis and other culturally or religiously appropriate swimwear
  • Modest swimwear specifically designed for aquatic use
  • Aquatic footwear designed for wet environments (optional)

Attire Requirements

All swimwear must:

  • Be clean and used specifically for swimming or aquatic activities
  • Be made of lightweight material intended for use in water
  • Provide appropriate coverage and remain opaque when wet
  • Allow safe participation in aquatic activities
  • Does not create a health or safety risk to the wearer or other guests

Prohibited Attire

The following are not permitted in pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, or saunas:

  • Street clothing worn into the facility
  • Underwear, boxers, briefs, bras, or other undergarments worn as swimwear
  • Denim, jeans, cut-off shorts, cargo pants, or clothing with excessive metal fasteners
  • Clothing with long dangling straps, chains, or accessories that may create a safety hazard
  • Outdoor footwear
  • Clothing that is transparent or inappropriate for a public recreation environment

Nudity

The City of Brampton is committed to providing inclusive, family-friendly recreation environments.

  • Nudity is prohibited in all public areas of recreation centres. 
  • Patrons must use designated change rooms and shower facilities for changing
  • Participants are expected to wear activity-appropriate clothing and proper bathing attire when using aquatic facilities or participating in water-based programs
  • Appropriate swimwear providing coverage of the genital and buttocks area must be worn at all times

Children

  • Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper or other approved aquatic containment garment designed to prevent leakage


​For the safety of all visitors, bicycles, e-scooters, e-bikes and other wheeled recreational devices are not permitted inside City of Brampton recreation facilities or on splash pads, playgrounds, spray features or other pedestrian-focused amenity areas.

Please dismount before entering City property and use designated bicycle racks where available. All wheeled recreational devices must remain outside buildings and should not be brought indoors.​

Please use the available bike racks and secure your bicycle or scooter with a lock.​ The City of Brampton is not responsible for loss, theft, damage, or injury caused by wheeled recreation devices on City property. 

The City of Brampton is a breastfeeding friendly organization and welcomes all breastfeeding mothers and children.

The City of Brampton reserves the right to cancel or alter any program information without notice, due to registration numbers, change of policy, or availability of instructors/facilities.

For the comfort of all patrons, children seven (7) years of age and older must use the change room assigned to their gender. Family change rooms are available for use at most locations.

Drop-in programming is available at select Recreation Centres. Spaces are limited for drop in programs, please pre register for your drop in swim, skate, sport and fitness programs by using the search tool located here . Registered swim, skate and sports programs are also available through the search tool.​

If participants do not arrive within fifteen (15) minutes of their reservation time for drop-in programs, their spot may be forfeited. Cancel your reservation by logging into your online Recreation account. Please view this tutorial for step-by-step instructions on how to cancel your reservation. Cancellations are accepted online and via phone up to one hour in advance of the program start time. Participants can also email recreation@brampton.ca​​ to cancel their reservation up to twenty four (24) hours in advance of the program start time. ​

The City of Brampton does not permit the use of City facilities to facilitate private lessons or training by a third-party individual or organization during public programming hours, unless permitted through a facility booking contract for select amenities and organizations offering non-competing programs.

In order to ensure the safety, comfort and privacy of all patrons using our facilities, the use of electronic devices (e.g. cell phones, digital music players, portable video game consoles, etc.) is not permitted in change rooms due to the integration of cameras into these devices.​

​One (1) or two (2) adult guardians over the age of eighteen (18) and up to three (3) dependents, defined as eighteen (18) years of age or under or full-time students under the age of twenty-five (25), qualifies for a family pass. Multiple families cannot be combined on any pass/membership purchase. All family members must be on the same family account.​

In our Family or Parent and Child programs, "parent" means any adult caregiver aged 14 or older. This could be a guardian, relative, or family friend. All family types are welcome, and we encourage meaningful connections through our programs.

Typically, registered programs will not be scheduled on public statutory holidays. Please refer to your Registration Receipt for specific course details​.

The Community Services Department encourages and welcomes participants with disabilities. Admission fees may be waived for Support Persons accompanying a person with a disability, as long as the support person is not participating in the program/service (some restrictions may apply). Please make sure staff is aware of severe allergies or medical conditions the program participant may have. It is strongly recommended that children take necessary medication at home under the supervisor of a parent/guardian. Participants that require medication during program hours must have a parent/guardian complete and sign a Personal Information Record. Please ensure that all medication is submitted in its original container.​

Makeup classes are not available in the event that a participant is unable to attend a program/class.​

  • Failure to comply may result in loss of access to facility spaces.

Please inform us of any family or behavioural concerns. Staff will make every effort to accommodate participant needs; however, we reserve the right to withdraw participants from programs should their behaviour cause harm to themselves, other participants, staff or property.

In order to ensure the privacy of others, filming and/or photography by members of the public and spectators are not permitted during certain registered programs and/or drop-in programming. Recreation staff may take digital images of participants for promotional or marketing purposes with the expressed consent of participants.

In order to ensure the safety of our participants, parents/guardians are required to accompany their child to the program area when dropping them off and come into the program area to pick them up. Please ensure that a staff member is aware of your presence when you pick up your child. In the event that your child is being picked up by someone else, please inform staff at the beginning of the program.​

​Only service animals are permitted inside City of Brampton facilities. They must be clearly identified; for example, a guide dog wearing a harness and/or vest. Patrons are responsible for the care, supervision and control of their service animals at all times. Please check here​ for more information on Animal Services in Brampton.

​Spectators are not allowed in program areas. If the facility has a designated viewing area or gallery, spectators may watch from there.  
 
For safety reasons, children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 14 years old who must remain onsite in the facility. ​

Our facilities are public places and open to all members of the community. To ensure the safety of all patrons, children under ten (10) years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at least fourteen (14) years of age or older. When attending a registered program, children under ten (10) years of age do not need to be accompanied during the program (unless otherwise stated), however, the parent/guardian must remain in the building (programs in excess of two (2) consecutive hours excluded).
