Access free sports equipment in select parks and outdoor recreation sites via Equip Sport lockers, stocked with soccer balls, basketballs, and more.

Equip Sport, in partnership with Jumpstart and the City of Brampton, have installed 30 sport equipment lockers across the City. This initiative supports participation in sport and encourages fun, active play for all ages and abilities.

How it Works

In each locker you'll find sport and recreation equipment that can be borrowed at no cost. Use the free Equip app to unlock the box, no credit card or payment is required. Just unlock and play!

What are the sports equipment lockers?
The lockers are free, open‑access stations where residents can borrow sports equipment like soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, and frisbees using a simple smartphone app. They're designed to make it easier for everyone to be active in their local community.
How do I borrow equipment?
You can borrow equipment through the Equip Sport smartphone app (Android and Apple). Once you download the app, you can unlock a locker, borrow what you need, and return it when you're done.
Is there a cost to use the lockers?
No. The equipment is completely free to borrow. This initiative is part of the City of Brampton's commitment to reducing barriers to recreation.
Where are the lockers located?
The City is installing 30 lockers in parks and outdoor recreation sites across Brampton. Locations are listed on our website, above.
What types of sports equipment are available?
Each locker includes equipment for popular park sports such as soccer, basketball, football, and frisbee. Equipment may vary slightly by location.
Do I need to return the equipment the same day?
Yes. Equipment is intended for short‑term, same‑day use so that everyone in the community has access. The app will remind you to return items to the same locker.
What if the locker is empty or equipment is damaged?
You can report missing or damaged items directly through the app. This helps Equip Sport restock and maintain the lockers quickly.
What if I don’t have a smartphone?
At this time, the lockers operate through the Equip Sport app. Residents without a smartphone are encouraged to play with friends or family who can unlock equipment, or bring their own gear.
Why is the City offering this program?
The initiative encourages a barrier‑free, active lifestyle by making sports equipment accessible to everyone. It supports spontaneous play, community connection and healthier public spaces.
Who is Equip Sport?
Equip Sport is a global organization that provides free, open‑access sports equipment stations. They operate 500+ stations across Europe and dozens across Canada. More information on the origanization can be found here: https://equip.sport/
What happens if equipment isn’t returned?
The app tracks borrowing sessions and links it to the responsible user account. If equipment isn't returned, reminders are sent and Equip Sport follows up with the user directly. If the item still isn't returned, the user may be asked to pay for the missing equipment.
