Free Programs From the City of Brampton Recreation Division

Below are programs and events within the City of Brampton recreation centres that are free of charge for residents.​​​​​​​​​​

​Grant ​Programs

Grant programs for the community are funds given by the government or groups to support in providing free and accessible programs.​

The Ontario Afterschool Program is a Grant program to provide opportunities to children within the community of Brampton. The program will consist of physical activities, healthy eating, wellness and community needs. Registration for this program is for specific schools only.​

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charitie​s​ is on a mission to enrich the lives of kids across Canada through sport and physical activity. The City of Brampton is thankful to have been selected to receive a Community Development Grant from Canadian Tire Jumpstart! This grant will go a long way towards helping us offer free, accessible programs for our community! Registration is open. 

Sponsored Programs

Sponsored programs are funded through companies or organizations for specific programs that benefit the community.​

​An informal game of basketball planned and organized and those in attendance. All equipment will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own.​

Free winter break skates generously sponsored by Tim Hortons​

​Free swim generously sponsored by Tim Hortons.

An informal game of basketball planned and organized and those in attendance. This free program is sponsored by Save Max Real Estate. Game play is intended for 5 vs 5 players with teams of 10. All equipment will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own. Required Equipment: Clean indoor shoes. Recommended Equipment: Basketball​

​Special Events (annual and seasonal)​

The City of Brampton provides various opportunities to connect with the community throughout the year with special events.​

Bike the Creek​ is a FREE event, aimed at encouraging people of all ages to discover the joys of cycling. Join cyclists in our fun family ride through the spectacular valleys, trails and historic landmarks, urban and rural settings of Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga.

​Bunny Eggscitment​ is a FREE family-friendly community event designed to celebrate the arrival of Spring! Families will take part in an egg hunt, enjoy a variety of activities, soak in exciting entertainment and more! The event will be offered at select community centres across the City during the weekends leading up to the Bunny’s big day.​

  • Looking for a job opportunity within the City of Brampton Recreation Division? Join us as we provide tips and techniques on enhancing your resume, interviewing skills and providing you with the opportunity to ask questions about the application process. Registration is required.​

Fright Nights are FREE family-friendly community events designed to celebrate scary season.  Families can enjoy festive activities, entertainment and more! Events run from 6 – 9 pm and will be offered on weekends at select community centres across the City during the month of October.​

​Namaste Brampton! Celebrate International Yoga Day on Tuesday, June 21 with a free outdoor yoga class. All ages and abilities are welcome. To learn more visit, International Yoga Day​.

June is Recreation and Parks Month​ is an initiative launched by Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO) to promote the benefits of recreation and parks for community physical and social wellbeing. Using this platform, the City of Brampton Recreation division annually highlights various recreational opportunities residents can access to ensure they are staying active and engaged.

Bring your blanket or lawn chair to FREE family-friendly outdoor movie screenings at Chinguacousy Park, Gore Meadows Community Centre, and Mount Pleasant Square. Movie season runs throughout July and August, weather permitting.​ To learn more visit, Summer Movies Under the Stars​.

​Kick off June is Recreation and Parks Month by joining us at Chinguacousy Park on Saturday, June 3 to celebrate National Health and Fitness Day. Participate in a fitness scavenger hunt, try a Sweat and Fete cardio class, plus visit fitness and wellness booths! To learn more visit, Recreation Month​.

  • During National Youth Week, the City of Brampton wants to give a special thank you to all its youth. From May 1-7, join us for a week of FREE activities and events!

  • June is designated as Seniors Month​. This initiative promotes the contributions seniors have made throughout their lives and provides a platform for communities to celebrate them.

​Youth Hub

The Community Youth Hub at Susan Fennell Sportsplex is a community space designed for youth ages 14 to 29 years old. Community Youth Hubs are safe spaces where youth can access recreational programming, resources and community supports.

  • Youth ages 12 to 18 years old are invited to drop-in and join us for a FREE program focused on physical activity, life skills and youth leadership!
  • Program schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 3pm to 6pm, from September to June, excluding school holidays.​

​Subsidized Programs

Subsidized programming within the City of Brampton are programming that receive financial assistance to reduce the overall cost.​

​ActiveAssist is a fee subsidy program offered by the City of Brampton, designed to help low-income families and individuals in Brampton participate in Recreation programs. Confidentiality is always maintained. This assistance is given in the form of a credit to your account. To learn more, visit ActiveAssist​.

Child Care Subsidy is a program offered by the Region of Peel that helps qualifying families cover the cost of licensed child care for children 4 to 12 years of age. To learn more visit, Subsidies and Support​.

The City of Brampton is committed to providing recreational experience to all individuals with various abilities. To learn more visit, Inclusive and Integration Programs.​

​Seniors Programs

Enjoy a 25% discount on all registered programs (with the exception of Inclusive Programs and Adult 55+ specific programs). You can also view drop-in programs – including those offered only to adults 55 and over.​

ActiveAssist ​is a fee subsidy program offered by the City of Brampton, designed to help low-income families and individuals in Brampton participate in Recreation programs. Confidentiality is always maintained. This assistance is given in the form of a credit to your account.

​As of June 2024, all residents of Brampton 70 years of age ​and older can access Recreation services for free! Older adults can visit any City of Brampton Recreation Centre to sign-up for a yearly membership. The free annual pass will be added to their Recreation Registration account. Eligible residents will require a Brampton Transit Senior Identification Card​ and a PRESTO card loaded with a free annual pass.

​Additional Programs/Events​​​​

Each year families, friends, community organizations, businesses, and school groups participate in the Parks Cleanup Program by helping keep Brampton clean and green. The Program helps remove litter that has accumulated, promotes community engagement, and creates healthy vibrant spaces. It's also about helping us achieve our Brampton Grow Green goals​

Facilitated in Gage Park during the summer. Vendors are welcome to contact us to be a part of the market.

The City of Brampton completed its first Culture Master Plan, recognizing Garden Squar​e​ as a cultural hotspot in downtown Brampton. The City will continue to invest in Garden Square, strengthening its position as a gathering space that brings Bramptonians together, ignites civic pride and acts as a catalyst for creativity through arts and culture programs, events, and community-focused activities.

The City of Brampton is committed to providing recreational experiences to all individuals with various abilities. Integration Services encourages participants who have a disability to take part in the City of Brampton's registered programs with additional support on a 2:1 ratio.
