This National Youth Week, the City of Brampton wants to give a special thank you to all its youth. From May 1-7, join us for a week of FREE activities and events!

Parks Photo Scavenger Hunt 
When: May 1 – 7  
Department: Community Services 
Division: Parks Maintenance & Forestry 
Participants are encouraged to take photos based on the various sections students are eligible to work in the Parks' division (Sports Field Maintenance, Parks Maintenance, Horticulture and Forestry). Participants will submitted their photos to bramptongreencity@brampton.ca for a chance to win a grand prize. 

Free For All Foundation- After School Program 
Ages: 10-16 Years
Time: 3 pm 
The programs provide after-school learning, tutoring and coaching in support of the goal of graduating all program participants from high school with grades required to participate in employment and/or post secondary education.

National Youth Week- Welcome to the
YOU-th Hub  

Ages: 14 to 29 Years  
Time: 5 - 9 pm
Join us for our Welcome to the YOU-th HUB exciting open house event designed to showcase the variety of activities and programs available for youth! Discover the vibrant space of the YOU-th HUB and take part in engaging tours to learn more about what we offer. Activities will include tote bag creation – explore the Cricut, introduction to music production and crafty clicks – button making.  Refreshments will be provided for this event sponsored by Domino’s.

Ages: 14+
Time: 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Get your dancing shoes ready for this exciting drop-in dance program for teens and adults living with a disability. Join us to make new friends and to show off your awesome dance moves to the latest hits and enjoy a free slice of pizza, sponsored by Domino's Pizza.  

Arts Inside: Songwriters Circle & Inspiration 
Ages: 14-29 Years 
Time: 7 pm 
Department: Community Services 
Division: Cultural Services 
Sit with other writers and like-minded people, in a songwriter's circle where you will learn to put your thoughts to paper to create your own lyrics. People who have an original song will have a chance to share it and receive feedback from each other in a safe space. Bring your instruments if you have them. There will be instruments available for playing and exploring. 


Newcomer Youth Leadership Development (NYLD) Program 
Ages: 13-30 Years
Location: YMCA Brampton
Time: Various program times 
This program tailored to support newcomers to Canada aged 13-30 (Permanent residents and convention refugees). The program is centered around creating youth-friendly environments, fostering leadership skills, and addressing settlement and integration issues. We actively involve parents and immediate family members through various interactive, educational, and recreational activities to ensure a positive settlement experience. The program includes workshops, certified training sessions, volunteer opportunities, and free trips around the city. Our goal is to establish a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment where participants can acquire new skills, make friends, and actively engage in their community.

Introduction to Volunteering and Civic Engagement

Introduction to Volunteering & Civic Engagement is a workshop inviting youths to learn about volunteering and civic engagement! The topics that will be discussed throughout the workshop include volunteerism, civic engagement, and learning the diverse volunteer categories you can engage in. Helping Hands discusses the ways you can build on current skills and learn new skills, and provides tips that allow you to be actively involved in your communities and create change!

SUSO Skate will be providing roller skates and protective gear.

At the end, we will practice an interactive activity such as a breathing exercise.

The Parks' team welcomes youth to participate in a community clean up in helping the to keep our City clean. Participants will receive community hours and partake in a free bbq.

Our VX: Youth Virtual Volunteer Expo will take place in an immersive vibrant virtual environment. Free “We Play Too” Girls and Women in Sports Leadership Conference 
Ages: 14 to 29 Years
Time: 12 – 3 pm 
The 'We Play Too' conference will focus on the positive influence sports has on the lives of girls and women by driving home the message of playing to your strengths both on and off the field of play, resilience in the face of adversity and gaining leadership skills throughout the journey. The goal of the conference is to give each athlete empowering tools to take back with them to their field of play and in their everyday lives. The conference will feature three sessions, with speakers touching on how sports can be used to develop oneself, build community and drive positive change. Their interactive sessions will touch on tools needed for success to develop female leaders of tomorrow.

National Youth Week- Explore the Outdoors Try-It  
Ages: 14 to 29 Years 
Time: 2 - 5 pm 
Embark on an exciting outdoor journey with Explore the Outdoors, where youth will have the opportunity to discover and experience unique sports in a natural setting. Guided by our staff, participants will engage in various outdoor activities, including tennis, golf, and archery.

Ages: 14 to 29 Years 
Time: 5:15 - 7:15 pm 
Team up with fellow participants and put your problem-solving skills to the test in a thrilling scavenger hunt around Chinguacousy Park. Follow clues, solve puzzles, and complete tasks as you explore the outdoor environment, all while bonding with your teammates and enjoying the beauty of nature. Be prepared for surprises and adventure around every corner. A prize will be awarded to the winning team.

Brampton Books in Bloom: Celebrating 50 Years in Flower City. 
Ages: 14 to 29 Years 
Time: 6 - 7 pm 
This event is a part of the Festival of Literary Diversity which is held April 28-May 5. This will be free for youth and free for adults with a Brampton Library card.
Celebrating the city's 50th​ birthday, three Brampton authors sit down with Brampton-raised literary agent Léonicka Valcius for an in-depth conversation on what it means to write place and home in young adult fiction, romance and speculative fiction. This event is a part of The Festival of Literary Diversity.

Wolfhacks Hackathon

The largest hackathon within the PDSB, Wolfhacks will be bringing nearly 400 students to Brampton City Hall focusing on “Brampton’s 2040 Vision” as this year’s theme. 

National Youth Week Basketball Tournament 
Ages: 12 to 18 Years 
Time: 1:30 - 5 pm 
The City of Brampton is conducting a recreational youth basketball tournament during National Youth Week! Join us for a few hours of light-hearted competition, team-building, and fun! The tournament is structured to allow an equal number of games, seeding into a final championship round. 
  
If you'd like to choose your team mates, please include their full names in the questionnaire so that teams can be made accordingly. Teams will be divided by age. We'll also have a special guest appearance by the Brampton Honey Badgers to kick off the tournament, along with Peel Police Officers to coach and play on our youth teams! End off the tournament with a free slice of pizza, sponsored by Domino's Pizza! 
  
All equipment will be provided, including basketballs.  
Required Equipment: Clean indoor running shoes, water bottle.

National Youth Week Job Information Fair

Location: Save Max Sports Centre​

This job fair is hosted by the City of Brampton Recreation Division, in partnership with community agencies. Attendees will have an opportunity learn about available part-time roles in Recreation and other Brampton-based organizations. Every attendee will have the opportunity to speak individually with staff and learn more about paid training options, potential career paths for part-time employees, and next steps in the application process.

An annual Skills Ontario GIS competition where students work in teams to answer a real-world question that takes place in Ontario. They are provided relevant data to conduct analysis, engage in critical thinking, and create maps based on criteria included in the question. At the end of the day, each team is required to present and submit to the judges their findings in an ArcGIS StoryMap. We will be volunteering again this year to be the judges of the competition.
